I love all the work you put into customs and culture in this comic. Reciting poetry as a call-and-response social lubricant / shibboleth is really interesting – is there anything from the real world that inspired it?
aw, thank you so much!! a big part of it is definitely from uta-garuta, which is a game rather than a conversational thing, but I really liked the idea of memorizing poems for call-and-response reasons. :>
