Not just because it’s an incredibly intimate and gentle expression of ‘you can’t justify harming someone by saying you did it because you care about them’ but also because of how forthright Khimaera’s admission is that he’s worried about Ada, and what might happen to her. Like him saying that outright, no fear, no shame? Viciously moving.
whenever I reread this scene I can feel my heart slow down. There is something very impactful about it, and so I always look forward to this page as I draw closer to it. I love both characters expressions, and I love Khimera’s honesty. Great job all around!
